Why I Choose To Study Japanese
Some people may find it strange that someone my age, a Junior, is starting Japanese now instead of when I was a freshman or sophomore. The answer is that I have switched from being pre-med to computer science and it was difficult to plan.
I am very excited to learn Japanese. I have always enjoyed the culture and the people. My family is Taiwanese and my grandparents learned Japanese when they were very young, and still speak it to this day.
I am interested in Japanese music and art. I like video games, and some Japanese composers have many beautiful video game soundtracks.

I am also a break-dancer, and Japan has many of my favorite B-Boys and B-Girls. Here is a link to an interview of my favorite dancers, who are Japanese B-girls. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s20JicVL_hU
As for a Japanese phrase I like, I have chosen はじめまして? Because I like the way it sounds and its meaning.
I am nervous for the school year to start. However I am also very excited. It is difficult to describe in words. I am nervous for the fast pace of class and of life, and I yearn for home. But, this is also a very nice place with very nice people. Many people are willing to help.
Thank you for reading.
